MOOG PIEPER: a New Full HD Camera and Pinhole Lens for Process Observation

MOOG Pieper, a provider of turnkey industrial video and security systems, has developed a new full HD camera with a remote sensor for industrial use for safe automation and is thereby expanding its successful Illuminator series. The Schwerte-based company is thus meeting the demand for small, powerful and maximum-resolution cameras designed to observe processes in difficult-to-access plant areas.

Oil, dust and extremely confined spaces mean that industrial processes can often quite literally only be viewed with great difficulty. Even harsh environments – in either extreme cold or extreme heat – make monitoring the work steps almost impossible. But it is extremely important for the plant to be easily visible if processes are to be optimized and the safety of employees and products alike is to be ensured. Process observation using network cameras can therefore help a great deal with regard to enhancing a company’s efficiency.

Large-Scale Monitoring in the Smallest of Spaces

MOOG Pieper has now developed an industry-compatible, full HD sensor with a robust housing and flexible front panel design that can be used in hard-to-reach areas that are as small as possible thanks to their miniaturized design and pinhole lens. Air flushing and cooling to protect the FK-N-WU-P-6894-2-IQ are also carried out using the pinhole view.

The sensor can be positioned up to a maximum of 12 meters away from the base unit. The cable is both oil resistant and functional between -40°C and +80°C. The sensor is immediately ready for use thanks to the prefocus base and IP68 RJ45 plug-in connector. Even a potential sensor defect can only result in very short downtimes due to extremely easy installation and swift inspection. Because all of the camera settings are stored in the base unit installed a maximum of 12 meters away, there is no need for configuration when replacing the sensor. As a consequence, even inexperienced personnel can replace the sensors should a potential defect occur. The system is ready for immediate use as usual.

Save Costs with Individual Programming

In addition to quick installation, MOOG Pieper also relies on customized sensor programming for analysis purposes. This can be done on the base unit itself without any need for an external server, making high administration costs for OS licenses or hardware maintenance a thing of the past. Contacts on the base unit mean that the live display or a recording can also be controlled automatically. The camera is IBA-compatible and therefore enables synchronous recording of both machine data and video images.
