Schwerte, May 11, 2017. MOOG Pieper, a provider of turnkey industrial video and security systems, is currently implementing a pioneering pilot project in India’s glass industry. The Schwerte-based company is kitting a new plant out with digital process observation equipment for its long-standing customer, Asahi India Glass Ltd. In addition to the complete technology, MOOG Pieper will also provide commissioning services, training courses and subsequent support.

Process observation at Asahi India Glass Ltd. was previously based on purely analog technology. With a new plant being commissioned, the trend toward digital solutions is now to be taken into account too. MOOG Pieper will therefore plan, implement and install a complete IP-based, full HD process observation system for the leading manufacturer of flat glass products by the third quarter of 2017.

As a special challenge, both the installed cameras and additional components such as probes and monitors will have to withstand the tough production conditions in extreme heat, at the same time as ensuring a high level of precision. The four cameras in total used in the melting tank and the exit end are therefore robust enough for long-term use yet sensitive enough to deliver high-resolution images and the finest details. The same is also true of the 10 probes used in what is known as the plant’s “float bath”. The customer opted for professional monitors from MOOG Pieper’s partner AG Neovo for system visualization purposes. 14 copies of the RX-24 model mean the operator will enjoy an optimum single image display in full HD quality at the same time as low power consumption. With their consistent 24/7 design, NeoV® protective and filter glass, Anti-Burn-In® function and variety of connections and video optimization, the displays are practically made to be used in this specific security system. PS-55 overview displays are also used at the control station. AG Neovo’s 55” monitors display all of the camera signals at the same time, enabling complete process observation.

Individual software can also be connected to the customer’s own PLC system to output measurements, for example.

Thorsten Wulff, Managing Director of MOOG Pieper: “We have been working with Asahi India Glass Ltd. for many years. We are all the more pleased to be working together as a pioneer of Full HD process monitoring based on IP in India.”
