PRECISE PROCESS OBSERVATION FOR PERFECT QUALITY

COMPLETE MONITORING OF THE MELT

With the help of special process monitoring systems, precise and high-quality products are consistently achieved even in difficult high-temperature environments. Thanks to special water- or alternatively air-cooled protective housings and probes, the PIEPER systems are suitable for use at temperatures up to 2,400 C° and are nevertheless sensitive enough for the output and storage of high-resolution images and the finest details. The network-capable technology of our CCTV and top roller camera systems, also available as an analog version on request, monitors the process chain from start to cool an oven and provides analyses, for example, on the flame image as well as the removal of the glass and the melt. Unwanted temperature fluctuations can be quickly counteracted, thus ensuring a consistently high quality of the products.

Errors and deviations in the manufacturing process can also have serious consequences in the glass industry: Defective raw materials or temperature fluctuations in the melt are only a few risk factors. Last but not least, production downtimes caused by faults and machine downtimes quickly become a glaring cost trap.

NETWORKED QUALITY SECURITY IN THE PRODUCTION PROCESS

Errors and deviations in the manufacturing process that are not detected due to inadequate process monitoring also have serious consequences in the glass industry: defective raw materials or temperature fluctuations in the melt are just a few risk factors. Last but not least, production stoppages and machine downtimes caused by malfunctions quickly become a glaring cost trap. Reliable production control and process monitoring ensure seamless monitoring of the melting processes and high product quality. Weak points in the system are thus detected in good time and eliminated before they can cause major damage.

To ensure smooth operation under the extreme conditions in the glassworks, heat-resistant and robust systems are needed. PIEPER offers just that: special systems for production control and process monitoring in difficult high-temperature environments that deliver consistently precise and high-quality results. Thanks to special water-cooled or alternatively air-cooled protective housings and probes, the PIEPERsystems are suitable for use at temperatures of up to 2,400 °C. At the same time, they are sensitive enough for measurement at high temperatures. At the same time, they are sensitive enough for the output and storage of high-resolution images and the finest details.

The network-compatible technology of the IP camera systems from PIEPER guarantees optimal process monitoring from the start of production to the lehr. Valuable analyses, for example of the flame pattern and the removal of the melt and the finished glass, and the avoidance of undesired temperature fluctuations ensure a consistently high quality of the products.

PIEPER Production control and process monitoring - for a smooth process in all manufacturing steps of the glass industry.

Users or operators are shown reference lines via monitors connected to the glass edge detection system, which show the exact position of the top rollers and glass edges. The analysis and measurement of the gross and net width of the flat glass as well as the distance between the glass edges and the top roller track can be optimally guaranteed by this visual process observation.

Furthermore, all installed cameras can be checked at any time via the remote control software and the functions can be set centrally. If previously defined reference values are exceeded or undershot, the system triggers an alarm.

By means of a connection to the process control system, an all-round view of the entire production process is ensured and production is significantly optimised.

Networked quality assurance in the production process - PIEPER Production control and process monitoring in the glass industry

In the production of flat glass, detailed process monitoring is essential to ensure precise results. PIEPER Glass edge detection systems have been specially developed for the float glass industry. The intelligent software reliably detects and analyses glass edges and top roller tracks for the smallest deviations within the spread, top roller or exit end area. PIEPERvideo technology ensures comprehensive production control. Up to 24 cameras can be installed per production line to ensure reliable process monitoring and record even the smallest irregularities in high-resolution image quality.
