MOOG Pieper, provider of turnkey industrial video and security systems, offers its customers a pioneering solution for early smoke detection with its "Early-Bird-Smoke-Catcher" fire detection system. The Swabian company has developed a mechanism that is inexpensive and easy to operate and, thanks to the integration of proven technologies and products, meets the quality requirements of a safe production environment. Many companies prevent fires by relying on systems that are connected to a fire alarm control panel and work with calibrated thermal cameras. Even though systems with this level of performance are very efficient, they also require high financial investments and are usually very complicated to operate. As a provider of safety solutions, MOOG Pieper has pooled its experience and developed the "Early-Bird-Smoke-Cather" (EBSC), a solution system that is less cost-intensive, easy to use and still ensures the highest level of plant and occupational safety in production areas.
EARLY FIRE DETECTION
It doesn't always have to be expensive Areas within closed production halls that are particularly difficult to see need supportive monitoring systems that alert employees to a developing fire so that appropriate countermeasures can be initiated. Thanks to the low cost of the smoke detection system, it is possible to install it on several cameras and thus keep an eye on many areas within production and storage. The "Early-Bird-Smoke-Catcher" uses intelligent sensors to register even the slightest smoke development and reacts immediately with an alarm message so that a fire can be avoided or quickly contained. In addition, the system has its own WDC (Watchdog Counter), which checks the machines for their operating mode, reports a loss of focus and automatically reports dirty glasses of the housings or cameras. Future-proof approach The newly designed solution builds on the already developed FULL-HD-MINI-INSPECTION video surveillance system, the full HD network cameras of the Illuminator series and the water-cooled protective camera housing of the WUW-2252-E series. Thus, elements that detect important details for smooth process flow even in difficult lighting conditions and even the smallest openings complement Axis Q-Series monitoring software installed on the enclosures. Together, these components form an analysis server on which SmokeCatcher© software is installed. The solution contains an algorithm for detecting smoke and can thus be used beyond pure motion detection. With a wide variety of triggers, the adaptive system releases alarm messages, switches the image in a control centre, sends video sequences via e-mail and can be flexibly parameterised to the local conditions. Flexible and customer-specific True to the motto "New ways, new opportunities", MOOG Pieper focuses on the development of modern systems and solution concepts as well as on their combination with proven product solutions. With the "EBSC", the company has succeeded in designing a new future-oriented approach for professional and flexibly applicable early fire detection. Early smoke and fire detection.
