MOOG Pieper, provider of turnkey industrial video and security systems, is currently implementing a pioneering pilot project in the Indian glass industry. The Schwerte-based company is equipping a new plant with digital process monitoring for its long-standing customer Asahi India Glass Ltd. In addition to the complete technology, MOOG Pieper will also be responsible for commissioning, training and subsequent support.

Until now, process monitoring at Asahi India Glass Ltd. was based on purely analogue technology. With the commissioning of a new plant, the trend towards digital solutions is now to be taken into account. MOOG Pieper will therefore plan, implement and install a complete full HD process monitoring system based on IP for the leading manufacturer of flat glass products by the third quarter of 2017.

As a special challenge, both the installed cameras and supplementary components such as probes and monitors have to withstand the difficult production conditions in extreme heat and at the same time ensure high precision. The four cameras used in the melting tank and the exit end are robust enough for long-term use and sensitive enough to deliver high-resolution images and the finest details. The same applies to the 10 probes used in the so-called float bath of the plant. For the visualisation of the system, the decision was made to use the professional monitors of MOOG'sPieper partner AG Neovo. With 14 RX-24 monitors, the operator receives an optimal single image display in FullHD quality with low power consumption. With their consistent 24/7 design, NeoV® protection and filter glass, Anti-Burn-In® function, connectivity and video optimisation, the displays speak for themselves in this security installation. In addition, PS-55 overview displays are used at the control desk. The 55-inch monitors from AG Neovo display all camera signals simultaneously and thus ensure seamless process monitoring.

As a supplement, the connection of an individual software to the customer's own PLC system, for example for the output of measured values, is possible.

Thorsten Wulff, Managing Director of MOOG Pieper: "We have already been working with Asahi India Glass Ltd. for many years. We are all the more pleased to now also work together as a pioneer of full HD process monitoring on an IP basis in India."
